Consultation Workshop on Market Oriented Agricultural Extension, 11-13 May 2010, Bangkok Thailand
Country paper | Tentative program | General information | List of Participants | information note for participants

Each country team invited to the workshop will be expected to produce a paper that describes the extension system in their country and the actions taken to promote marketing and agribusiness development. The context need not only describe the public sector extension role but could make reference to other agencies and service providers with responsibility for providing market-oriented advice. The paper should not be long (between 7-10 pages) but it should be informative. The paper should adhere to the structure below and address the questions listed:

1.         Overview of the MOAS system:

Describe the institutional set up of the advisory services in the country with special emphasis on marketing, farm management, enterprise development and agribusiness services.  (What services are provided by which bodies?)

Describe specifically what your country is doing in marketing, farm management and agribusiness.

2.         Assessment:

Assess how is the system working? What are the critical issues limiting its effectiveness? What has been done to address them? What insights and lessons can be learnt e.g. good practices, obstacles, pitfalls?

3.         Outstanding issues:

This section should identify the outstanding issues that still need to be addressed and describe what you propose to do in the future.

4.         Follow-up work:

This section should describe the role that FAO could play in assisting Government in the future
This will require some collaboration between the two delegates so that a single country paper is prepared. You may also wish to consult with others from your country for information. Once the final list of delegates has been confirmed the information will be shared with you. Deadline for submission of country paper is 21 March 2010 then the travelling arrangement will be arranged for delegates accordingly.

Prepare for a Presentation

Only selected country papers will need to prepare a power point presentation. Organizer will inform by end of March 2010 on which country shall be giving a presentation at the workshop.
The power point presentation should be prepared for 15 minutes talk and ten minutes for questions and answers. Participants are advised to send the power point presentation file through email info@afmaasia.org one week before the workshop starts to avoid the hectic during the workshop and to avoid virus infection through flash drive.
